First blog contest

OK. I am too excited for this. Breathe in... Breathe out...

As you all know I just recently started this blog, barely 2 months old. I've never had a blog before so I had to learn everything from scratch. I know my way around the computer but I can't say I'm computer -savvy like most of the blogs I follow. Sometimes I catch myself staring and ogling at baking blogs after baking blogs wondering how they can make their sites look as delicious as their baked goods. How I envy them!

So here I am and I wanted to share one of my fave baking blogs:

Go and check-out the amazing ideas on this site and I'm sure you'll love them too! By the way, they have an exciting contest/give-away going on right now.

Enjoy!

The Big 2-five

As you can see from my post title, I am clearly trying to hide the real meaning to this post. I'll post some pictures instead.

Pink Lemon Bluberry Cake with Lemon Buttercream Frosting

Follow-Up

Here are additional pictures from my super busy Mother's day weekend. From my last post, I showed my teapot cake that I made for my mom. She absolutely loved it and so did her co-workers. They finished everything and she only came home with my cake carrier empty and icing all over.

After that cake was finished, I still had to make a dozen Vanilla Cupcakes with Triple-Chocolate Buttercream that my friend Daniel ordered.

Since my usual recipe always gives me 2 dozen, I was left with extra cupcakes with no one to give to! (what a dilemma! who would take free cupcakes from me??) hahah! So anyway, I ended up giving it to my mom to give to her mom-friends that she was going to see the following day. I found a fabulous idea from http://thegainesgang4.blogspot.com on how to transport and pack cupcakes individually. I did mine extra fancy, of course it's Mother's Day!

I used small plastic wine glasses, placed pink and purple "stones" inside and embellished it with sparkly heart-shaped stickers. I have a stock of this cute pink and brown polka-dot goodies bag that just fit my theme so i popped the glasses inside then voila! Fancy cupcakes eh? (Just look past the race-car inspired cupcake liners. Teehee!)

I love the month of MAY!

I've always loved the month of May and that is not just because it's my birthday month (hint: gifts are very welcome) but because May brings so much hope that summer months are on its way. I always get too excited when summer is near. I wake up way too early everyday (6am!) so that I can spend a longer time basking in the warmth of the sun and of course to get my dose of much needed Vitamin D. Don't you notice that everything seems to be much better, nicer and so much more exciting when the sun is smiling down on you?? I know I do (^_^)

I also love May because it's when we celebrate Mother's Day. I've always thought that Mother's Day is celebrated on the same date all around the world, but I was mistaken. We 'googled' it yesterday at work when it wasn't so busy just so that we can get our answer. Most of the countries do celebrate it on the 2nd Sunday of May: other countries like Russia have it on the last Sunday of November while Indonesia celebrates it on Dec 22nd, 3 days before Christmas! There must be some big festivities around that time in Indonesia, How exciting!

Either way, it doesn't really matter which day we celebrate Mother's Day. All we need to do is to make sure we do not have to wait until that 'day' to tell our mother's how thankful we are of them. Everyday we should strive to treat them 'extra special' like the way we do on Mother's Day.

Let me share to you what we did for our Mom for Mother's Day:

Updates!

Wow! It's May 2nd already?!? How time flies fast! I am too excited for summer to start finally.

I am honestly disappointed with myself, seeing that I haven't updated my blog ever since I started it about a week ago. What's up with that? I've been lazy at it coz it's starting to become crazy busy at work lately and it makes me just want to chill on my days off and be as far away from a computer as possible. But no. I need to be psyched with this. I finally did it, made my own blog, and all I need to do is to balance my time and all will be fine and dandy. I hope it'll be...

It was a ho-hum work week. Weather has been up and down, one day all sunny & nice and the next day just pouring rain and all gray & yucky. I haven't done a lot of baking lately although I made Oreo Cheesecake-Bites last Wednesday as a "Thank You" gift to Stephanie, a Co-Op student at work. She 'worked-for-free' I meant learned and trained the ways of a hotel Front Desk Agent for about 2 months. She was a doll and was very helpful. Here are a few shots:

I will upload pictures of the actual cheesecake-making process on a different post. It was one Oreo-riffic cheesecake!

The weekend was a little bit better. My sisters and I went to the "The Good Food Festival and Market 2011" at the International Centre Mississauga. Well, to be completely honest the only reason we wanted to go was because of a man. This man,

the 'Duff Goldman' of Charm City Cakes

He was invited to judge a cake decorating contest that was "royalty-inspired".
Duff is one funny man.=)

Spring Awakening

Yeehah! I finally gave in and jumped in the baking blogs bandwagon. I’ve recently developed an obsession with baking blogs, following bloggers from all over the world, pretty much to the point of stalking their blog pages for new posts. I honestly cannot stop staring at them and wondering where all these cuteness comes from! Are these cake bloggers a different breed of humans baked (no pun intended!) especially to spread cheer and joy to everyone? It really made me wonder if I can be 1 of the chosen ones too...
Am I a baked masterpiece too?
I spent days then weeks trying to start it all off. I’ve been baking ever since I was a teen and have been habitually providing hidden calories inside every bit of sweet morsels of my baked goods. Then it happened on Easter day, while I’m placing little bunnies and chicks on top of my Easter cupcake. I can hear them whisper to me:
Chick: "Take a crack at it!"
Bunny: "Jump at this opportunity! It’s not like its dark like a rabbit-hole, you’ll figure out where you’re going sooner or later."

And here I am, all giddy and excited, with this awesome adventure. I would be sharing my passion for baking cakes and cupcakes and everything in between. I will also reveal bits and pieces of my own life and what makes it splendidly sweet.

I hope ya’ll have a sweet tooth!
